DESIRE

Oblivious to the ways of the world, I came.
With a tawny smile, and a tear drop like sapphire
My crimson wrath, like a forest on fire.
I also met a clandestine emerald eyed liar
These formed a bundle of my valued treasure.
Then I learnt the desire to want
Strange was the interplay of glee and daunt
But injected with conservativism
And addicted to convention – I surrendered
Soaked in euphoria and isolation,
I faced myself
With my unpredicted predicament
I needed to survive
Not for others, but this time for me.
You bent the rules, I bend my ways
Before I meet the almighty,
I need to taste the might in me.
My desires are not strong enough to flourish,
But not weak enough to perish.
So I walk, with a glint in my eyes...
for the unknown, may be into the wild.

  1. while I read the first few lines of the poem, I started thinking (believe me or not !) is this the effect of watching 'into the wild'....well, it proved to be true. I liked the idea, its implication and the soothingness of the poem...easy to read, very good choice of words (as always !) and of course, it went with the flow...
Two things, i need you to think over are that:
First one, do these really all combine to your bunch of valued treasure ?!
Second one, 'may be' may not be the proper choice of words in the last line...make sure that you want to feel free and you are 'into the wild' :)

    so, keep writing...
    want a lot like that...
    best wishes
    sirish
    :)
